Dear Neighbor,

Simi Valley has been home to my family since 1927. Like my parents, and grandparents before them, my wife Sally and I too decided to make Simi Valley the place we call home. Our children Elizabeth and Nicholas consider themselves lucky to be growing up in such a wonderful place, and I want to work to ensure it stays that way for your family and mine.

It has been a true honor to serve you and our community for more than a decade with the Simi Valley City Council, and also in roles with local nonprofit organizations such Rotary Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley, and the Simi Valley Education Foundation.

We should be very proud of what we have been able to accomplish in our City. We have a strong Police Department and have retained our standing as one of the safest cities in America. Every year while I have been in office, the City has passed a balanced budget that provides for a strong public safety program for our residents, as well as aggressive maintenance of our City's infrastructure, streets and roads.

We have strengthened the integrity of City government and addressed critical issues such as growth and neighborhood overcrowding. I co-authored Measure C in 2004, which voters approved to cut the number of building permits the City can allocate each year, resulting in a 46 percent decrease in the amount of allowable development.

When home purchase costs were out of reach for many young families and overcrowding was becoming problematic in single-family homes, I supported a Council action to study how other cities in the region addressed similar challenges. At my urging, the City took a very strong position on the issue of Eminent Domain, to protect the homes of Simi Valley residents.

I believe integrity is central to building public trust, which is why I supported a Code of Ethics and Conduct for the City Council and appointed commissioners, as well as the first campaign finance ordinance that limits individual and corporate contributions to candidates in our City.

While much has been accomplished, more can be done, and I look forward to a healthy, prosperous and enjoyable future in Simi Valley. Thank you for visiting my website. I hope I can count on your support so I can continue serving our community and all of its wonderful families and residents.

Sincerely,

Glen Becerra
