Council Member, City of Simi Valley
Glen Becerra is a third generation resident of Simi Valley. His commitment to public service and his community has been a driving force in both his personal and professional life, and he is proud to be working to preserve the quality of life of Simi Valley residents.
Glen was elected to the Simi Valley City Council in 1998, and was successful in his re-election bid in November 2002. During these eight years with the City Council Glen twice served as Mayor Pro Tem.
Outside of City Hall, Glen is actively involved with his community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Simi Valley Boys & Girls Club, volunteers with the Rotary Club of Simi Valley and is a member of the Simi Valley Education Foundation Board of Directors.
Glen also serves on the governing board for the Moorpark College Foundation, where he attended before moving on to become the first in his family to graduate from a university, earning a bachelor’s degree in history from University of California, Berkeley.
After graduation Glen was accepted into the Executive Fellowship Program, a public policy program sponsored jointly by the Governor’s Office and the Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento.
Upon completing the Fellowship program, Glen joined the Wilson Administration as Deputy Director for the Office of External Affairs, which oversees the operation and management of the Governor’s local field offices and serves as the liaison for law enforcement, crime victims and other constituent groups.
In April 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Glen to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. Glen has also served as President of the League of California Cities Channel Counties Division, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for this statewide organization devoted to the protection of local governments across California.
Glen is employed as a Public Affairs Project Manager for the Southern California Edison Company, where he has served communities in Ventura County, Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys since 1996. Prior to joining the Edison Company, Glen worked for the State Legislature as a Legislative Aide, where he focused on legislation dealing with California’s utility industry and the State Allocation Board, which is responsible for financing the renovation and construction of public schools.
Glen and his wife, Sally, have two children, Elizabeth and Nicholas.
